‘Family Films’ becomes ‘J,O,S,H and Archie’

Two things have happened recently.  Firstly, we dissolved the company that was Family Films, the reason behind this blog in the first place.  Secondly, our fifth child, Archie, was born and subsequently diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome.

As I was reading through this blog’s previous entries before closing it down for the last time and deleting it, I realised that although it had been a commercial tool, there was a wealth of family history already beginning to pool within it – things that even 1 year later have been enjoyable to revisit and remember.

The birth of Archie has changed the future course of our lives in ways we do not yet know or understand.  I do know, however, that while we were waiting for the diagnosis results I read a number of other family’s blogs which covered the subject of Down’s either in passing or as a core purpose, and I found them very useful, engaging and interesting.

My Dad kept a diary that was passed to me and my sisters in our late teens and it is something I have meant to do for our family and children, but never got around to.  So, with the combination of my reluctance to close the preceeding blog entries down, the birth of our fifth and final child and the exciting prospect of the future years ahead as we see all 5 children grow into their adult lives I have decided to write that diary after all.  The ‘Family Films’ blog may be a gonner, but the phoenix that rises from the ashes is ‘J,O,S,H and Archie’ – a chronicle of our family life.
