Getting in a flapjack….

We are in the final stages of putting our ideas together and applying for planning permission so that we can finally begin the process of preparing our house for the future with three growing boys.  The basic principle behind the construction plans is to create more space.  We need it.  Our kitchen is about the size of a small snooker table.  Perfect, then, to accommodate two small boys who have developed a desperate desire to make flapjacks.

So, Friday night in the Payne house saw Hilary and a very excited Jamie and Ollie pouring, measuring, stirring and tasting.  The key moment in cookery is, it seems, the moment when you lick the spoon.

Ready, Steady, Cook.

Ready, Steady, Cook.

Anyway, they went in and out of the oven while the boys went to bed and we enjoyed trying to prize them out of the baking tray earlier on today for lunch.  Gary Rhodes has just opened two restaurants in Christchurch, but I don’t think he’s got too much to be concerned about at the moment….
