Amazing local view

A few weeks ago I shared some of the images of my little tumble with my now ex-car on my way to work.  Well, that’s caused a few problems, I can tell you.  I am currently using Hilary’s car, the ‘family’ car, to travel to work, which has meant that she has to walk the boys to school every day while we wait for the insurance and I have to pay twice the amount on petrol.  All very unhelpful.

Added to that, I am now a very nervous driver on the country roads which often reach -4 degrees celsius in the mornings and I know that under the car wheels there is sod all grip.  I get to work after my hours drive feeling like I have just completed a four hour exam.

The other day then, when I emerged onto the top of a hill which looks out over the last remnants of North Dorset and into Wiltshire, I was blown away by what I saw.  In fact, it was nearly car crash number two as I tried to keep my eyes on the road.

Looking down into the low lying land, it genuinely looked like you were up in the hills in the Lake District or something, looking down on a calm and peaceful lake.  The fog was snuggled to the land like a blanket on Archie.  I had to stop and take in the moment. Here’s a little film I took on my phone, although, as always, it’s never quite as evocative in a film.
